Former Collins Inmate Gets Additional Prison Time for Throwing Urine at Corrections Officer

A 30-year-old man who intentionally threw urine at a corrections officer while incarcerated at the Collins Correctional Facility will spend an additional 1 1/2 to 3 years behind bars as a second felony offender. Erie County District Attorney John Flynn says Calvin Pietri was sentenced Thursday morning after pleading guilty last August to a Class E felony count of aggravated harassment of an employee by an inmate. In November 2020, Pietri intentionally threw a liquid at the correction officer as the officer was a collecting dinner tray from his cell. The substance was tested and determined to be urine. The officer was taken for medical treatment as a precaution. Pietri has since been transferred to the Mid-State Correctional Facility, where he remains incarcerated. His sentence will be served consecutively to his current prison sentence for a previous conviction on charges of gang assault and manslaughter.
