Another door fell off a plane this week

When reports that a door flew off an Alaska Air flight came out earlier this year, people were shocked. Now, it has happened again, to a much smaller plane.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration , the pilot of a single-engine Diamond DA40 landed safely in Buffalo, N.Y., after the rear left door of the plane fell off. Two people were on board the plane and no injuries were reported.

It was around 5:30 p.m. ET Monday when the plane landed at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.

NBC News reported that the aircraft lost the door as it flew over the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga, just a few miles south of the airport. Per the report, there is an audio recording where the pilot confirms that the plane lost a rear door.

“No injuries or property damage have been reported,” said the outlet. “Police are searching the area for the missing door.”

Buffalo Niagara International Airport and the Cheektowaga Police Department did not respond to an NBC News request for comment, the outlet added.
