Widespread rain moves out as colder air moves in

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – Fall is in the air after widespread rain swept through the Buffalo-Niagara region overnight and into Saturday, leaving much colder temperatures in its path.

A large storm system to our north will circulate much cooler air across our region through the weekend, National Weather Service forecasters say. It will feel more like October, as temperatures will average a solid 10 to 15 degrees below normal.

The fall-like airmass will support some lake effect rain showers, especially east and southeast of Lake Ontario, however the Western New York region will see much dry time, with some unorganized lake effect rain showers at times.

Sunday will usher in football weather, with only the chance of showers and clearing skies, however it will remain quite cool with temperatures maxing out in the 60’s.

Day to day warming will then take place during the upcoming week, with mainly dry summery conditions fully back in place from Wednesday into next weekend.
