Sabres GM Unwilling to Trade Away 2 Young Stars: Report

As the Buffalo Sabres aim to break their 13-year playoff drought, tied for the longest across all major leagues the New York Jets’, general manager Kevyn Adams has been actively exploring trade opportunities to bolster the roster.

However, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman released two reports this week revealing that Adams remains firm on not trading young stars Dylan Cozens and Bowen Byram, despite multiple inquiries from other teams.

Friedman commented on the situation on both Friday’s episode of the “32 Thoughts” podcast and Saturday’s 32 Thoughts column over Sportsnet.

According to Friedman, while Adams would like to strengthen his team, the GM is not at a point where he’d entertain including players with upside in trade packages.

“Kevyn Adams is out there saying, ‘I want to help my team,’ and people are saying, ‘Oh, you want to trade me Bowen Byram? I can help you,’” Friedman said on his podcast. “But Adams is like, ‘C’mon, I’m trying to make my team better.’”

“Another guy he got asked about was Dylan Cozens,” Friedman said. “I heard there were a few teams. But Adams is like, ‘We’re not interested in doing that. How does that make me better?’”
