BUFFALO, N.Y. — Members of Buffalo AKG Workers United rallied outside of the museum today in opposition of the museum’s planned layoffs.
Union members claim that this is a retaliatory action against union workers because while they plan to let go of 13 visitor experience members in April, they plan to hire 11 preservation and security members.
Both departments work on the museum floor. VEX employees are mostly responsible for visitor engagement, but there is also a security component to their job. Preservation and security members are focused solely on securing the art and museum installations…
