Askana Beauty is a new boutique beauty supply store located at 216 Grant Street.
Shop owners, Jamilla Pipersburg and her boyfriend, Ahmed Jahmi, have opened a two-prong business with intentions of bringing coveted beauty supplies and accessories to Grant Street, while creating a pop-up playground for like-minded (mostly) women entrepreneurs. Their first pop-up is taking place in March, when she and Ahmed will be hosting Mila’s Sweet Treats, which is owned by Mila Gittens.
“We are a new business on the West Side, and we are co-hosting this event with Mila’s Sweet Treats,” said Jamilla, who is excited to offer haircare and skincare products that are considered high quality, affordable, and effective. “We are also passionate about promoting partnerships with other small businesses, especially women-led businesses in the area, and we believe this pop-up is a great example of that.”
When asked about the foundations of her multifaceted shop, Mila said, “I own the store with my boyfriend, Ahmed Jahmi. We started Askana Beauty last year. We spent the first few months in a storefront in West Seneca, but we recently found a great spot in Buffalo to move into. We loved the building and the neighborhood. The West Side has so much history and we wanted to be a part of it. We walked into our current store and fell in love with what we could do with the space. What makes our boutique so special is that everything that we do is designed with our customers in mind. We make our own products from the bobby pins to the shampoo and conditioners. Our goal is to make multi-cultural beauty and wellness products that are affordable, fun and high quality. We want to Buffalo-proof your skin and hair for the ever changing Buffalo weather.”…
