More WNY families turn to secondhand baby gear as prices, tariffs loom

BUFFALO, N.Y. — If you’re shopping for strollers, car seats, or other baby gear, you could soon notice some higher prices, if tariffs do take effect. Some brands are already raising their prices.

Some baby gear is getting more expensive, especially with talks of potential tariffs.

According to BabyCenter, prices for diapers and formula have remained mostly steady, but it’s a different story for items like strollers and car seats. Some stroller models have gone up 14% in just the past week. Car seats, including popular models from Chicco and Safety 1st, are going up around 10%. One local store, Kid to Kid Tonawanda, said they’re seeing more families turn to secondhand options, especially for toys and baby gear…
