A Rekindled Romance Leads to Buffalo’s First Piega Shop & Hidden Kitchen Dinner Series

Less than a year ago, Dave Chicane was living what sounds like a chef’s dream, running a successful farm-to-table restaurant in the Hudson Valley. The typical week involved talking to local farmers before developing a menu for well-heeled, sophisticated diners making day trips up from New York City.

Things changed for the Orchard Park native a few years back when he was home for the holidays. A chance meeting with his ex-fiancée in a TJ Maxx led to a rekindling of that relationship. The couple is now engaged again, decades after their first attempt at getting married.

In October, Dave sold his successful Hudson Valley restaurant and recently opened Artusi, an Italy-inspired café on Main Street in Snyder. He says the new restaurant is a tribute to time spent with his once-again fiancée’s Italian-American family…
