A new poll shows that the majority of New York residents have low confidence in Governor Kathy Hochul.
According to a recent Marist Poll, over a thousand New Yorkers have expressed that they aren’t happy with the job that Governor Kathy Hochul is doing running the Empire State. The poll, conducted from April 3 to April 9, showed that 46% disapprove of her job performance, while 39% of surveyed New Yorkers approve, and 16% couldn’t decide, according to News 10.
New York Governor’s Numbers are Down
The poll, which reached out to roughly 8 million New Yorkers by text, online, or by live phone interview, asked folks willing to participate various questions regarding Gov. Hochul’s job performance and whether or not they think she should run for reelection. Only 1,204 New Yorkers responded, with the majority saying they have little enthusiasm for the Governor’s leadership.
More than half of New Yorkers believe the governor is not a good leader, and 57% say that they oppose her bid for re-election in 2026.
New York’s Economy
The state of New York’s economy dominated public opinion, with over eighty percent of New Yorkers saying that New York is too expensive. Sixty-four percent said they believe the economy is getting worse across the state, up from 51% last year. Only 9% of New Yorkers said they thought the economy would improve.
New Yorkers Moving Out of State
Response also confirmed that many New Yorkers are planning to move out of the state in the next five years, with thirty-two percent agreeing that was their plan, a decrease from last year’s 37%…
