New York Rain Alert: Up to 1 Inch Expected in Buffalo, Rochester, and Watertown Through Saturday Afternoon

Buffalo, N.Y. – Heavy showers and thunderstorms will drench Western and Northern New York from Friday afternoon into early Saturday, bringing widespread rainfall totals of a third to two-thirds of an inch, with some areas seeing up to an inch by Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, showers will intensify throughout Friday and persist into Saturday morning before becoming lighter and more scattered. Cities including Buffalo, Rochester, Jamestown, and Watertown are forecast to receive between 0.25” and 1” of rain, with higher isolated totals possible—especially near Jamestown and northern communities such as Clayton and Lowville.

The wet weather may lead to ponding on roadways and reduced visibility, particularly during the Friday evening and Saturday morning commute.
