Communities asked to dispose of unwanted meds during Take Back Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is recognized every year during the months of April and October. On Saturday, April 26, local law enforcement will set up collection sites for #TakeBackDay. Collection sites are also open nationwide.

“Help keep your community safe by cleaning out your medicine cabinet and taking back expired, unused, or unwanted meds for safe disposal,” the Batavia Police Department said in a release.

Accepted items can include prescription drugs (like painkillers, antidepressants, antibiotics), over-the-counter medications (like aspirin or cold medicine), vitamins and supplements, and even pet medications…
