NY weather update: Flash flood warning active for New York until early Tuesday due to excessive rain

On Monday at 10:54 p.m. an updated flash flood warning was released by the National Weather Service in effect until Tuesday at 12:45 a.m. for Allegany, Cattaraugus, Erie, Genesee, Livingston and Wyoming counties.

“At 10:54 p.m., local law enforcement reported flash flooding within the warned area, mainly for northeastern Allegany County. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are still possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring,” according to the weather service. “Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.”

Locations impacted by the warning include Canaseraga, Letchworth State Park, Alfred, Perry, Warsaw, Bennington, Mount Morris, Attica, Pavilion, Arcade, Belfast, Rushford, Portageville, Houghton, Varysburg, Chaffee, Yorkshire, Caneadea, Sheldon, Nunda and Covington…
