Retired Police Officer Receives Probation for Shooting 14-year-old During Alleged Vehicle Theft

A former Buffalo Police Officer has been sentenced to five years of probation following a shooting incident that left a 14-year-old injured during an alleged attempted burglary in 2024, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.

The incident occurred on February 8th, 2024, near the Marine Drive Apartment Complex where 66-year-old Antonio Roman confronted a group he believed was involved in breaking into cars. During the encounter, Roman fired his weapon and struck a teenage boy in the leg. The group fled the scene in what was later confirmed to be a stolen vehicle.

The teenager was treated at Oishei Children’s Hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries…
