Buffalo firefighters rescue deer trapped in the water near USS Croaker

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – A dramatic scene unfolded at the Naval Park Saturday afternoon as firefighters worked to rescue a deer. Dozens of onlookers watched as first responders pulled the deer from the water between the USS Croaker and the walkway at the Naval Park. The incident happened around 2 p.m. ET. Officials tell WBEN the rescue operation took about 30 minutes. There is no word on how long the animal had been in the water.
