No Deal: Jemal Holding on to 65 Court

Despite multiple bids, Douglas Jemal is keeping 65 Court Street. According to The Buffalo News, the winning bid was rejected by Jemal as too low. The bidder and the bid amount for the 69,717 sq.ft. former Walter J. Mahoney State Office Building were not revealed. Coldwell Banker Realty held the three day auction that ended on Wednesday with a starting bid of $750,000.

Jemal purchased the Niagara Square landmark in October 2021 beating out eight other bidders with a $4.1 million bid. Jemal announced plans to convert the building into a 60-room boutique hotel but never started work on the project. The five floor, Green & Wicks designed building opened in 1931…
