Tree planting effort in Western N.Y. to receive $20,000 in state funding

Local non-profit Re-Tree Western New York is set to receive $20,000 in state funding, New York State Assemblymember Jon D. Rivera announced Thursday.

The new funding will be used to buy and plant new trees on Buffalo’s West Side, Black Rock, Riverside and Allentown neighborhoods.

“Buffalo’s tree canopy is a defining feature of our neighborhoods, and it’s vital we continue investing in the people and organizations working tirelessly to preserve and protect it. This funding will directly support Re-Tree WNY’s mission of revitalizing our city’s natural assets, especially in neighborhoods that require increased investment to minimize the impact of our hotter summers,” Rivera said…
