19-year-old dead after two-vehicle crash on Grand Island

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 19-year-old died in a two-vehicle crash late Friday night on Grand Island, according to New York State Police.

Police responded to the crash just before midnight on I-190 southbound. Officials said a Toyota Camry, operated by 19-year-old Tamim Akbari, struck the rear end of a Lexus SUV that was slowing down in traffic in the right lane.

Akbari was dead on the scene. Multiple passengers from both vehicles, including a child, were treated for serious and minor injuries.
