Companies battle a two-alarm house fire in Amherst

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — Fire companies in the Williamsville area are cleaning up after battling a two-alarm house fire on Covent Garden Lane on Saturday.

Amherst Central Fire says someone passing by the home called 911 to report seeing black smoke and flames coming from the home around 7:02 a.m.

The East Amherst Fire Department was first on scene with water on the structure within 14 minutes of the call, according to Chief Mike Secor, who soon requested a second alarm. The structure was evacuated due to the intensity of the fire, with crews forced to fight it from the outside…
