We are talking about the importance of blood, organ and tissue donation this weekend on In Focus.
JoDee Kenney sat down with Assemblyman Al Stirpe. He is about to hold his 19th blood drive. Growing up, Stipe’s father held blood drives and had him donate blood as soon as he was old enough to. Since getting elected, Stirpe says he wants to use his public office to do things you would like people to do and give them the opportunities to do them. He says if you give people the opportunity, they usually come through.
Also, Kenney sat down with the town of Amherst Deputy Supervisor Shawn Lavin. Lavin has the Donate for Life link as part of his email signature. It all started in 2017, when he was running for office. Lavin said his godfather was on the kidney transplant list. While going door to door, Lavin came across a person who had a sibling who was also on the transplant list. He made a commitment that if he won, he would add this to his email signature…
