Buffalo community urged to engage youth after chaotic holiday gathering

BUFFALO, N.Y. — What was supposed to be a night of celebration, quickly turned into what some say is chaos late Saturday night on Buffalo’s East Side.

Witnesses said a large gathering near East Delavan Avenue and Grider Street got out of control — with fireworks launched at officers and EMS crews, two people stabbed, and several officers suffering side effects from pepper spray.
