Local Planned Parenthood still accepting Medicaid patients despite looming cuts

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC)- Some 40,000 patients from Syracuse to Niagara Falls are impacted by a new law stripping Planned Parenthood of its ability to accept Medicaid.

“This is really devastating,” said Michelle Casey, the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York. She told News 8 that 60 percent of the patients they see each year are on Medicaid.

As of Tuesday, the clinics in Rochester and the 18-county region were still providing services to Medicaid patients, thanks in part to a temporary restraining order. The 14-day order freezes the provision of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that revokes Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood…
