Buffalo mass shooter federal case rescheduled to August 2026

The federal case against mass shooter Payton Gendron has been rescheduled to Aug. 17, 2026, beginning with in-person jury selection — more than four years after he killed 10 Black people and injured three others at a Tops supermarket in Buffalo.

The trial start date was originally set for Jan. 5.

Gendron’s defense team has been pushing to delay the trial, recently filing a motion claiming the indictment was obtained in violation of the Fifth and Sixth Amendments. They also argued for an extension after losing an attorney to an extended illness in May…
