BUFFALO, N.Y. — The shooting death of 44-year-old Amanda Thompson on South Ogden Street has brought the topic of bail reform laws into the spotlight by candidates running to become Buffalo’s next mayor.
Rickey M. Crouch, 49, was arraigned on Friday afternoon before an Erie County Court judge. He has been charged with one felony count of murder and one violent felony count of criminal possession of a weapon, the District Attorney’s Office said.
According to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, Crouch faced a number of charges related to domestic violence before Thompson’s death. Crouch is accused of shooting and killing Thompson with an illegal firearm shortly after midnight on Thursday, July 17, at her home on the 600 block of South Ogden Street.
