WNY rock band Hywater to open for Kansas at Batavia Downs

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Hywater, a rock band hailing from Niagara Falls, N.Y., has opened for a number of touring rock acts over the years: from The Tubes, to Don Felder of The Eagles, to playing a festival with Marcy Playground and Deep Blue Something. On Aug. 15, they’ll be at it once again, opening for Kansas at Batavia Downs.

“That’s the opportunities that you always dream of when you’re a kid,” frontman Thomas Tedesco said. “I mean, I have memories playing ‘Carry on Wayward Son,’ on Guitar Hero, stuff like that. That was that was my gateway into rock music was that — I remember, ‘Carry on Wayward Son,’ you know, ‘Hotel California’ by the Eagles, those songs were really my pathway into into this whole thing. So when the opportunity comes up, they’re like, ‘Hey, you have the opportunity to share the stage and play before with this band’ that is obviously so legendary and so inspirational to all of us, that’s that’s really cool. We’re really looking forward to it.”

Tedesco said whenever they play onstage, whether its for three people or 300 people or even 3,000 people in the case of Batavia Downs, they always bring the same energy, though this show is one of the biggest opportunities the band has had to this poing…
