Buffalo man sentenced after selling fentanyl leading to fatal, non-fatal overdoses

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison after being convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, fentanyl, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes, the United States Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Officials said Davon Mitchell, 35, admitted to distributing fentanyl that led to the fatal overdoses of two people. He also admitted to selling fentanyl that led to the non-fatal overdose of another person on three occasions.

Mitchell obtained and distributed fentanyl, meth and cocaine starting in 2019 in Western New York to numerous regular drug customers, officials said. From March 22 and May 12, 2022, he reportedly sold 2.7 grams of fentanyl, 72 grams of meth and three grams of crack cocaine to an undercover police officer…
