BUFFALO, N.Y. — As future budget issues challenge the Buffalo public school district there is emerging talk of some consolidation in the school system. That may include the eventual shutdown of some of the district’s 60 school buildings.
2 On Your Side spoke with a Buffalo Common Council member who says if closures do happen those empty buildings shouldn’t just sit there. She wants to make sure they’re reused in a way that still benefits children.
Buffalo Common Councilmember Zeneta Everhart says “There is a lot of youth programming happening. People just don’t know about it. And they don’t know about it – why ? – because these places don’t have a landing place. They don’t have anywhere to go.”…
