A Bourbon Street-style celebration launches a new chapter for live music and downtown renewal
On Sunday, August 10th, downtown Buffalo will swing with second-line rhythms and Bourbon Street energy as JazzBuffalo presents the Buffalo Jazz Festival Prelude: A New Orleans Celebration on Ellicott Street from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This exciting street party serves as a high-energy kick-off to the upcoming Buffalo Jazz Festival and offers the city a joyful summer celebration rooted in music, community, and revitalization.
In collaboration with Tappo Restaurant, the free, family-friendly event will close off a portion of Ellicott Street to create a festive, New Orleans-style atmosphere. Anchoring the festivities is Buffalo’s own powerhouse brass ensemble, The Brass Machine, who will bring that unmistakable second-line groove and the infectious joy of a NOLA street parade right into the city’s heart.
What sets this festive occasion apart is the full sensory experience. Tappo Restaurant is curating a lineup of NOLA-inspired cocktails and culinary delights, including Po’ Boys, Muffalettas, Beignets, and more. Add to that rooftop views, outdoor dining set up on the street, and a festive experience, and you’ll feel transported to the French Quarter—without ever leaving Buffalo…
