Ken-Ton School District teaches bus safety before first day of school

TOWN OF TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Kenmore-Tonawanda Union Free School District is setting kindergarteners up for success by teaching students all about bus safety before the first day of school.

In a few weeks, many students will board a yellow bus and head to school for the first time. This milestone can be nerve-wrecking for both the students and their parents. To ensure things run smoothly, the district invited hundreds of families on Saturday to learn about bus safety.

“As the incoming kindergarteners, they’re getting an opportunity to get on the bus,” said Graham Violino, Ken-Ton School District’s director of transportation. “They’re learning about some of the bus rules and the safety and procedures that we have and some of the expectations we have when they ride the school bus.”…
