Man shot and killed by Cheektowaga police as officers attempted to make arrest

A man was shot and killed by Cheektowaga police on Wednesday as officers attempted to make an arrest in Buffalo.

According to police, four Cheektowaga police officers arrived on Sanders Road in Buffalo just before 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday to locate a resident. They were attempting to make an arrest in connection with an assault of a hotel employee that occurred in Cheektowaga on Monday. The victim is still unconscious in the hospital.

Police said when they contacted the resident, he attacked the officers with a large knife. One of the officers discharged their firearm and shot the individual. The officers called for an ambulance and began life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
