Reports reveal missteps by Buffalo Fire in death of firefighter Jason Arno

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — It has been more than two years since Buffalo firefighter Jason Arno died while responding to a four-alarm fire on Main Street.

Now, city and state investigative reports, which were recently released as part of an ongoing wrongful death lawsuit filed by Arno’s widow, have revealed multiple missteps by the Buffalo Fire Department in connection with the fatal incident.

The reports are not new. The Buffalo Fire Department’s internal review is dated Sept. 2023, and the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) issued its findings on Aug. 7, 2023, but they were only recently released publicly as evidence in the legal proceedings…
