Man arrested at Peace Bridge with 109 kilograms of cocaine

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A citizen of India who lives in Canada was arrested after being caught with 109 kilograms of cocaine at the Peace Bridge on Wednesday, the United States Attorney’s Office announced.

Vishavpal Singh, 31, was driving a commercial truck when Customs and Border Protection discovered boxes of suspected cocaine, officials said. Officials said the arrest came after border officials received a tip from Homeland Security in Michigan.

“This seizure represents one of the largest ever at international border crossings in the Western District of New York,” said U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. “The investigative efforts of our law enforcement partners is a very important step in preventing this vast amount of illegal narcotics from ending up on the streets of our community, and those attempting to smuggle this cocaine into our neighborhoods will be held accountable.”…
