Lackawanna man sentenced to probation for defrauding Medicaid

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Lackawanna man was sentenced to one year of probation after defrauding Medicaid out of over $95,000, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday.

The fraud took place between June 2017 and December 2020.

Munef Fadhel, 38, owned Great Lake Transportation, a company that gave rides to those on Medicaid. On multiple occasions, Fadhel sent in fake records to be reimbursed for trips, including records intended to obtain higher reimbursement amounts, officials said…
