Fireboat Edward M. Cotter to recreate it’s 1900 arrival in Buffalo

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – A celebration of a 125-year-old community treasure is planned for Saturday on the Buffalo Waterfront.

The Edward M. Cotter is the world’s oldest working fireboat. It continues to respond to fires on the water and along the shoreline, and also serves as an ice breaker in the winter in the City of Buffalo.

“On Saturday at 11a.m., there will be a reenactment of the Cotter’s arrival in Buffalo Harbor as it happened in 1900,” said Mayor Chris Scanlon. “It’s really a remarkable vessel that has been doing incredible work for 125 years.”…
