Prior Felon Charged with Illegal Reentry in Buffalo

(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – Federal prosecutors announced the arrest of a 53-year-old El Salvadorian national who has been charged with illegally reentering the United States after prior deportations and a felony conviction.

U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo stated that Miguel Angel Ruiz Guevara was charged by criminal complaint with re-entry of removed aliens and re-entry of previously deported or removed aliens following a felony conviction. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Smith, investigators encountered Ruiz Guevara on August 29, 2025, at a hotel in Bowmansville, NY.
