WNY hospitals to seek more health insurance plan money as Medicaid cuts reduce revenue

BUFFALO, N.Y. — With previous and existing New York policies – this state has been one of the most generous in the nation with Medicaid coverage – state officials pointing out one of the lowest un-insured rates among major states of only five percent.

But that came at a cost for taxpayers and with greater reliance on the federal Medicaid share program – where under the budget reconciliation bill – the nationwide cuts of over one trillion dollars will be made as spread out over a decade according to the Congressional Budget Office.

At this time of year when employers traditionally inform their staffers about their 2026 health insurance benefit options and costs – comes a new national report from the AON research firm that workers will see a five percent increase in health insurance plan costs and for their employers a nearly ten percent jump – some of the largest in years…
