Selfless Among Us: Nekia Kemp leads Buffalo PAL with vision, heart, and a deep commitment to youth

BUFFALO, N.Y. — On a sunny day at McCarley Gardens, the air was filled with music, laughter, and the unmistakable energy of children at play. It was one of the many “Community Days” organized by the Buffalo Police Athletic League (PAL)—a nonprofit that has quietly and powerfully been shaping the lives of thousands of young people across the city for more than 70 years.

At the heart of this organization is Nekia Kemp, PAL’s Executive Director and the latest honoree of WGRZ-TV’s “Selfless Among Us” series. Her leadership, forged by personal tragedy and professional passion, has transformed Buffalo PAL into a hub of safety, opportunity, and joy for over 12,000 children annually.
