We’ve all had the experience where you go to a city, whether on vacation or just in town for work, and when you come back and start telling a friend about it, they ask if you had a chance to go to a laundry list of landmarks that city is known for. When you realize you haven’t visited any of those places, you feel like you missed out on the entire city. Did you actually go there if you haven’t been to those places?
They aren’t necessarily always the best places to go to in that area, but they’re the places that everyone will ask if you went. You should go just to say you’ve done it once.
It got me thinking about the places here in Western New York that people would ask another tourist if they had gone to. There are plenty of landmark places to visit, like Highmark Stadium, Niagara Falls, or even Shea’s Theater.
But what are the restaurants that every tourist should go to?
Buffalo is really known for two types of food. Everyone knows Buffalo is well known for its’ wings. But also for a sandwich that we call “Beef on Weck.” Essentially, a beef on weck is a roast beef sandwich. However, it’s served on a kimmelweck roll, which is a hard roll that is covered in salt and kimmelweck seeds. It’s no surprise that many of the restaurants on this list specialize in things like wings and beef on weck, but there’s so much more than that.
