Lawmakers call on Public Service Commission to add public hearing in WNY for NYSEG, RG&E rate case

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Frustration over a proposed utility rate hike for NYSEG and RG&E has sparked two local leaders to demand that ratepayers in Western New York get a chance to speak in person.

In a letter to the New York State Public Service Commission, the state’s utility regulator, Assemblyman Pat Burke (D-Buffalo) urged the commission to add a hearing in the region, writing that Western New Yorkers “deserve to have their perspectives heard on the record.”
