DEPEW, N.Y. (WIVB) — Depew schools on Thursday told families they were aware a student associated with one of their schools made a social media post containing a general threat of violence. Law enforcement said the threat is not credible.
“Any type of threat, even one that does not specifically name the district or its schools, is taken seriously,” said Depew superintendent Katie Smith in a statement.
An application for a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order was filed by Depew police against the student who allegedly made the social media post. The threat came after a fight involving students at the high school was caught on video and circulated on social media.
