Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz is pushing to allocate $1 million for FeedMore WNY.
Poloncarz says this money will help purchase more than 350,000 pounds of food for local food pantries.

“Who is on SNAP? Propably your friends and neighbors,” Poloncarz said. “58% of SNAP recipients are seniors or children, 11% are toddlers and babies under 5, more than 4 million nationwide. They are all about to go hungry because of the government shutdown. You know who is not a SNAP recipient: undocumented immigrants. It’s time for Democrats and Republicans to sit down and reach a compromise and end this shutdown, before 40 million of our fellow Americans go hungry.Thats after the state notified Erie County that 140,000 will see their SNAP benefits indefinitely delayed due to the ongoing govrnment shutdown.”…
