Per usual, when the chips are down, Buffalo steps up to the plate. Right now, I’m talking about the sad state of Jamaica, after it was hit by Hurricane Melissa – a catastrophic Category 5 storm, which has now been declared the strongest in the island’s recorded history.
Today, the island is reeling from an estimated $22 billion in damages, with at least 28 lives lost. While the death toll is tragic, the economic loss for Jamaica is staggering. The Prime Minister – Andrew Michael Holness – recently stated that the island’s long-term recovery would require international support.
That international support is coming from communities across the world including Buffalo. On Saturday, November 15, The Terrace in Delaware Park will play host to a community fundraiser that will feature a number of different participating restaurants.
