Alligator seized in Buffalo during drug trafficking investigation

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An alligator was seized from a home in the Leroy neighborhood of Buffalo earlier this week during a drug trafficking investigation, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials were conducting a search at 28 Montclair Avenue in Buffalo when they found a backyard shed containing a large alligator in a makeshift pool. The shed was equipped with lighting and heating devices.

Albert the alligator could be coming home to Hamburg

Suspected methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl, and drug paraphernalia were also allegedly found at the residence.

Jerry Green, 38, of Depew, was charged with the following after searches were conducted in Buffalo, Depew, and Concord:

  • fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • two counts, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • two counts, second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • two counts, second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia

Green is being held at the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment. The alligator was seized.
