BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a new scam involving iPhones that had recently been purchased.
According to the sheriff’s office, two separate individuals who had recently purchased iPhones reported that after the phones were delivered to them, an individual claiming to be working for Spectrum. That individual then claimed that the consumers had been “accidently shipped a refurbished phone,” and that they needed to ship the phone to an address via UPS before they could be sent the “correct” phone.
The sheriff’s office is warning residents that said calls are a scam. Authorities say that if you or someone you know has had a new iPhone delivered to them, and have received a call similar to this, you should hang up the phone and report it to your local authorities…
