The historic Parkside Candies building – and business – first went on the market this past February. At the time, Phil Buffamonte (owner since 1981) was hoping to find a buyer that would carry on the iconic name of Parkside Candies, by identifying an owner-operator that would respect the heritage of the beloved candy store, which is so much more than simply a candy store. Parkside Candies (Candy) is a chocolate shop, a neighborhood gem, an old fashioned ice cream parlor, and a family-friendly establishment that has carried on with its timeless traditions since it was founded in 1927.
Today, Hunt Realty continues the search for the perfect fit for the 3208 Main Street listing. As for the listing, what many people might not realize is that aside from the gorgeous, impeccable art deco style retail space, the purchase includes a small manufacturing facility as part of the 19,000 SF mixed-use layout. This facility is where the production of homemade chocolates, old-fashioned lollipops, and sponge candy takes place. The second floor features apartments and offices.
Buffamonte has stated that the search continues for the right buyer to carry forth the candy making/selling traditions. That said, he has also expressed an interest in training a new owner/operator.
This is an unusual sale of course, which seeks an entrepreneur that is looking for en established investment that is really unlike anything else on the market (see history).
