BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A woman who was accidentally shot in the thigh by a probationary Buffalo police officer over the summer is suing for damages.
Officials said that 22-year-old Courtney Miller sustained a gunshot wound to her right leg around 5 a.m. on June 11 at the home of former Lancaster police officer John Lapiana. Miller is suing the probationary Buffalo police officer, Lapiana, and Lapiana’s father.
No one was charged and Lapiana resigned from the Lancaster Police Department.
