Psychiatric defense could be used in case of man accused of setting home on fire, killing baby and mother

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Psychiatric defense could be used in the case of a man who allegedly killed his girlfriend and their infant son and then set their house on fire.

Kidane Haile, 30, is accused of murdering the two individuals in their Buffalo home in the Elmwood Village on Norwood Avenue. Haile allegedly poured gasoline around the house and lit the home on fire on Oct. 18.

Katie Carrig, 29, and a four-day-old baby were found deceased. It was determined that Carrig died by asphyxiation prior to the fire…
