Teen gets 5 years for shooting, seriously injuring Dollar Tree employee

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — An 18-year-old from Depew was sentenced Thursday morning to five years of incarceration after he shot and seriously injured a Dollar Tree employee earlier this year, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s office.

On May 7, a 20-year-old employee was shot multiple times in the parking lot of the Dollar Tree where she worked. Police responded to the scene around 6:15 p.m. She was treated for serious physical injuries at ECMC.

Mikhaeel Abdul-Jaleel, who was 17 at the time, fled the scene and was later located in a nearby apartment. He barricaded himself for three hours before surrendering to a SWAT team…
