BUFFALO, N.Y. — Abuse survivors in the Diocese of Buffalo’s bankruptcy case asked a federal judge Thursday for the opportunity to speak directly to the court and the diocese through voluntary, non-testimonial statements.
The survivors’ committee said nearly 900 abuse claims have gone unheard in court because of the bankruptcy and argued that allowing survivors a voice in the process could provide both validation and healing.
