NFTA hosts holiday food drive

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A food donation initiative led by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority is heading into its final stretch before Christmas.

The holiday food drive started ahead of Thanksgiving in partnership with FeedMore WNY, collecting non-perishable food items such as canned goods and pasta.

Collection bins can be found at the following locations:

  • Buffalo Airport Firehouse, 120 Amherst Villa Road (anytime)
  • Niagara Falls Airport, 2035 Niagara Falls Blvd. (Monday-Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday-Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
  • Transit Authority Police Department, 1404 Main Street (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.)

“You never know who is in need of assistance, right? It could be someone who lives right next door to you, it could be your friend,” said Kelly Khatib, NFTA public information officer. “I feel like there’s an overwhelming need to help people, again, especially this year, so we’re very proud of the work we do with Feedmore WNY and it’s something that we hope can continue.”
