BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Buffalo will pay nearly $3.3 million in a settlement tied to an incident where a bar patron died after he was pushed down a flight of stairs at a now-closed establishment in 2014.
The Buffalo Common Council approved the $3 million to the family of William Sager, who died after he was pushed down the stairs at Molly’s Pub in 2014. He was pushed down the stairs by the bar’s manager, Jeffrey Basil, who was sentenced to 18 years in prison for manslaughter in 2015.
The now defunct bar was located at Main Street and Winspear Avenue in North Buffalo. Two off-duty Buffalo police officers were working security when the incident happened…
